Time and time again has tradition saw victory over the tribulations plaguing the world. People prioritize the safe and known, valuing it as if its their lifeblood, and clinging to it as if it'd save them in times of need.
This rings true for Kezo Kuwala, a bright-eyed apprentice who's had her entire life laid out for her. As she's next in line for a seat in the Royal Counsel, she has the dire task of Asran's Test of Loyalty weighing heavy on her shoulders. In a horrible twist of irony, the very tradition upheld by the empire for generations involves setting out on-foot across the land, testing one's commitment by showing them what they could have if they were to defect from their role. It's even crueler that it's during a time when she's most needed. The empire is nearly at war with a neighboring country, and Kezo is left wondering why she must abandon her duty in her country's time of need.
In her travels, she meets two women, Irit and Macha. The former, a citizen from the nation locked into conflict with her own. The latter, a wanted bounty hunter by the capial. But the chance encounter with both sparks something in Kezo. If she could change their hearts and help them turn over a new leaf, then maybe, just maybe, she'll be able to stop the war before it gets the chance to start!
Forged From Dust follows along an unlikely trio as they roam the Oshar Desert. The story focuses on themes of identity, self-discovery, healing, and betrayal.
What is this?
This site focuses on sharing information related to the worldbuilding and characters of Forged From Dust in a concise way.
The project itself is a prospective animated series (though, more realistically, webcomic) that dates back to 2018. It's gone through several changes but the core idea of it following an unlikely trio journeying across the desert has stayed the same.
